What Eventbasers got up to in 2018

2018 has been a banner year at Eventbase. We’ve expanded our team in both Vancouver and London, released exciting new products, won some awards, and delivered apps for over 600 events around the world.

As we head into a new year, it’s fun to take a look at the year behind us. Even though we work hard, there has always been a fun-loving side to our culture, and 2018 was no exception. Here are a few of the highlights from the past year that make working at Eventbase so special.

Vancouver team events

We love to stage creative events at our Vancouver HQ. One of the highlights this year was our first-ever Eventbase Film Fest, where Eventbasers competed to create short films. The gala evening even featured a red carpet and mini Oscar trophies and prizes. A particularly memorable entry was The TPS Club, a video short produced by and starring our very own group of Technical Product Specialists (TPS).

And of course, the Vancouver office hosted a selection of seasonal celebrations, including our summer party and talent show, Halloween costume contest, apres-ski holiday party, and pancake breakfast.

London team events

Our London team of Eventbasers also had a strong showing of employee fun this year. One staff trip took the team to the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide, the ArcelorMittal Orbit in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

The London office holiday party was also a roaring good time!

World travel

One of the big perks of being an Eventbaser is the travel. For us, travel comes in two flavors. The first is business travel. Our customers are global brands and stage events all over the world, so we have to be there on-site to support them. In 2018, Eventbasers got the opportunity to visit such exciting destinations as Australia, Belgium, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa and India, just to name a few.

The other way Eventbasers satisfy their wanderlust is through our one-of-a-kind Ticket to Ride program. Staff members get the chance to use their professional development time to experience the magic of one of our customers’ events as an attendee – courtesy of Eventbase. This popular program saw Eventbasers enjoy CES, Comic Con, New York Film Festival, SIGGRAPH, Santa Barbara Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and more.

Giving back

At Eventbase, we believe firmly in giving back to our communities. Eventbasers continued the fundraising efforts they’ve done in previous years in support of Startups Care, including bake sales, and even a whisky tasting.

We also participated in Extra Life, a gaming marathon fundraiser hosted at Eventbase HQ every year since 2014. Snacks, Super Smash and Mario Kart tournaments on the projector, board games and good times resulted in over $12,000 USD raised so far for the BC Children's Hospital, through the Extra Life charitable foundation.

Dogs of Eventbase

Last but not least, we couldn’t forget to mention our canine companions who’ve faithfully watched over workdays throughout the year.

Here at Eventbase, we’re grateful to our customers, partners, suppliers, families, and friends for another fantastic year. From all of us to all of you, a very happy new year!
